What is a floral tea?
This is a tea (green, black, white or oolong) scented with floral notes. You notice these aromas as soon as you open the tin, then again in the cup: a delicate fragrance, a gentle taste and an aromatic signature that sets each blend apart. Some recipes include a few petals, mainly for visual appeal.
The fragrance can be created in two ways. Traditionally, as with jasmine tea, the leaves are placed in contact with fresh flowers and gradually absorb their scent. Today, most scented teas are flavoured: flavourings enhance the tea base to create a consistent, pronounced taste across a wide variety of flavours.
It should not be confused with a floral infusion (or herbal tea), made solely from flowers and plants, with no tea leaves and therefore naturally free from theine.
Which one is right for you?
The experience changes depending on the floral note you choose:
- Rose: a delicate, romantic and slightly sweet fragrance.
- Jasmine : a captivating, fresh and intensely aromatic note.
- Lavender: a soothing touch, both soft and delicate.
- Orange blossom: a bright, rounded and indulgent fragrance.
- Cornflower: subtle aromas, often paired with fruity notes.
