1/ To take a moment for yourself.
Breaks help you stay more efficient in the long run. Pausing and taking a breather allows you to refocus better afterwards. But how much break time at work should you take? Several experts have even theorised methods for organising work around breaks: there is the 52/17 rule (52 minutes of work alternating with 17 minutes of break), the 25/5 rule (25 minutes of work, 5 minutes of break), the 90/20 rule, or taking two 15-minute breaks during the day (outside of lunchtime). It is up to you to find the rhythm that suits you best and adapt your break time at work to your needs.
2/ To slow the pace of the day.
While a quick espresso is often gulped down in one go, tea is all about taking your time. First, you boil the water, then let your tea baginfuse for a few minutes. Before sipping your tea slowly as it cools down. Leaving you time to reflect, ponder, meditate… If you find yourself asking: What should I drink at work? Coffee or tea? To slow down the pace and truly disconnect, opt for a tea break at work.
3/ To socialise.
Working from home alone makes it even more obvious: we miss our colleagues! Work is also a space for connection and social interaction. Whether first thing in the morning, after lunch or for an afternoon treat, taking breaks together is a chance to chat. These moments of sharing and connection allow us to talk shop—and everything else. We get to know each other better, build connections, and strengthen team spirit at work.
4/ For a gentle boost.
Unlike coffee, which can be over-stimulating, tea is a gentle stimulant. Its effects develop more smoothly and last longer. Released gradually into the body over 6 hours, theine is thought to sharpen focus and enhance memory.
For those more sensitive to caffeine, herbal infusions are just as good when you need a lift. Try our organicspiced infusions, such as Only Spices or Happy Mind.
5/ To de-stress.
Another molecule found in tea, theanine, is believed to have soothing properties. This natural active ingredient is known to promote relaxation and calmness by easing feelings of anxiety. It is amazing the effect certain molecules can have on our brains! Kusmi offers plenty of relaxing herbal teas. Treat yourself to BeCool with verbena and peppermint, or Lovely Night. Lovely Night blends linden and verbena to help you unwind. How to manage stress at work? A stress-relieving or soothing herbal tea might not solve all your worries, but it will help you… switch off, even if just for ten minutes away from emails, Zoom calls and everyday stresses.
6/ To discover the power of plants.
Herbal teas and infusions harness the power of botanicals, just as traditional medicine has for millennia. For whatever little niggle you may have, there is a carefully crafted botanical blend to help. Had a heavy lunch that is hard to digest? Turn to peppermint to soothe the digestive system. Struggling with sleepless nights? Try chamomile. In need of a calming blend? Brew yourself an infusion delightfully named Feel Zen.
7/ To mix things up.
Even with milk or cream added, coffee will often... taste like coffee. Tea and herbal infusions, on the other hand, offer a far wider variety of flavours thanks to the plants, flowers and fruits that can be blended with them. So one day you might fancy a spearmint green tea, the next day a Rooibos, followed by a white tea, an exotic fruit infusion, a matcha tea, a smoked tea, or a fermented tea... Spoilt for choice!
8/ To stay hydrated.
We often tend not to drink enough. Even when you do not feel thirsty, staying hydrated throughout the day is essential. While nothing replaces water, tea can be a great alternative and contribute to our daily fluid intake. It is only in large quantities—over three cups—that tea acts as a diuretic and may affect overall hydration. Herbal teas and infusions do not have this effect, so you can enjoy as much as you like! So make the most of your break at work to rehydrate!
9/ For a "most stylish mug" showdown.
Having a lovely mug is also a great way to decorate your desk and show off your personality. A fun slogan, a stylish design, colourful patterns… your mug says a little more about your state of mind. Our current favourite? A stainless steel travel mug that keeps drinks hot for 8 hours, cold for 12 hours... and goes everywhere with you on the move.
