thé glacé citron maison

In summary: Lemon iced tea, combining lemon rich in vitamin C and tea (green, black or white) rich in catechins, creates an antioxidant cocktail that refreshes, hydrates and helps fight cellular ageing. Prepare it by steeping 5 tsp of organic tea (e.g. Anastasia) for 5 min in 2 L of lukewarm water, add sliced lemon, sugar or honey, then chill. Serve cold with mint for an energising summer drink.

The benefits of lemon tea

Lemon has long been recognised for its health benefits. It is rich in vitamin C, or ascorbic acid, as well as flavonoids, plant pigments from the polyphenol family. These antioxidants reduce damage caused by free radicals, molecules responsible for premature ageing.

Green tea also contains polyphenols: catechins. Together, green tea and lemon make a powerful cocktail. It can not only help slow premature cell ageing, but also the development of certain diseases.

White, green or black: all teas are welcome

Do you prefer black tea? Good news! It is perfectly suited to making homemade lemon iced tea. Indeed, while green and black teas come from the same plant, their main difference lies in how they are prepared.

In the case of green tea, the leaves are simply roasted, retaining their colour and properties. Black tea leaves are fermented until they turn black. Their taste is also very different: considered more intense, even malty, it pairs very well with the tangy flavour of lemon.

Homemade lemon iced tea: the easy recipe

Nothing could be simpler than preparing your homemade drink! You will need a little water, sugar, the lemon tea blend of your choice and a lemon.

In a large saucepan, gently heat 2 litres of water without bringing it to the boil. Then:

1- Immerse a tea ball filled with 5 teaspoons of organic Anastasia

2- Leave to infuse for around 5 minutes

3- Meanwhile, wash and cut the lemon into small pieces

4- Remove the tea ball, then allow your preparation to cool

5- Pour the mixture into a jug or large bottle, then add the chopped lemon

6- Sweeten lightly before placing your homemade iced tea in the fridge for a few hours

There you have it! Your delicious drink is ready to be served well chilled in a glass with ice cubes. Add one or two mint leaves for a guaranteed festive cocktail effect.

You can also replace the lemon with a lime, which is more acidic but also more exotic. Honey or agave syrup can easily replace sugar if you wish.
