Homemade mint iced tea for an exotic tea time by the pool

You know the steaming version of mint tea, which immediately transports you to the medina of Marrakech. In hot weather, why not try its equally delicious iced version?
Homemade mint iced tea can be enjoyed at breakfast, afternoon tea or as an aperitif, for a refreshing break. It will undoubtedly become your essential summer drink: enjoy without moderation to hydrate with pleasure.
During hot weather, drinking tea is ideal thanks to its powerful thirst-quenching properties. Combined with mint, the most refreshing of aromatic herbs, it makes the perfect drink to avoid overheating!

The homemade mint iced tea recipe, step by step

To make your homemade mint iced tea, choose a green tea or white tea. They are the most suitable. Their lightness pairs harmoniously with the refreshing notes of mint.
A tip: favour the cold-brewing method to enjoy all the pleasures of tea without any bitterness. For a green tea, allow an infusion time of between thirty minutes and three hours, depending on your taste. Allow between two and four hours in total for a white tea.
To prepare two litres of homemade mint iced tea, you will need:

  • Two litres mineral water or filtered water
  • 10 g of green or white tea, plain or flavoured
  • 2 generous bunches of fresh mint
  • 100 g of white caster sugar, to taste
  1. Pour the water into a large jug.
  2. Place the tea in a filter and leave to infuse in cold water for around three hours.
  3. Remove the tea and strain if necessary.
  4. Add the mint leaves and sugar, then stir.
  5. Place your blend in the fridge for at least 5 hours. The longer you increase the infusion time, the more the flavours of the tea and mint will develop.
  6. Take your jug out of the fridge. Stir well so that the sugar does not remain at the bottom.
  7. Your homemade mint iced tea is ready!

To flavour your drink, add seasonal fruit such as peaches, apricots or raspberries. You can also enhance it with lemon juice and, why not, a dash of elderflower syrup!
